Can't make it say Stephen no matter how I try. There is definitely a middle initial A, and the first name definitely ends in 'ry', so I would go with Henry. As for his surname, I can't see a dot over the second letter, and it looks just like the 'e' in 'Head', so I think it is Selby. (Most of the other 'i's on the page have fairly clear dots.) Kate. |

Just about to have a look at the image, but in the meantime, Shirley - it's not surprising that Family Search would give the same name as ancestry for him since ancestry's 1881 transcription is taken from FamilySearch's! Kate. |

Now that worries me. Because if he is Selby in that census and was shown as Selby before ............................Is he a silby? Thanks guys so much for helping me, but I think Im going round in circles here, cos if he is shown as a Selby in 1851 and is still appearing as a Selby in 1881, have I got the wrong family and they arent my Silby lot after all. Getting too tired to work all this out now. Must get my son to let me get on here prior to 11 p.m. some nights! God bless you all for helping me. |

Cant see him anywhere apart from 1851. He is the only kid born after 1837 so a bit desperate to buy his cert. Dad, Joe is a ships joiner, bros are ships carpenters or joiners but I found them under the name Selby. I am 98% sure this is my Rotherhithe lot, as the older boy John is shown born Rotherhithe as is mum Mary. My interest is their eldest daughter Maria who married my GGFx3 in Stepney. Both of them were born Rotherhithe and I guess he married in the parish she had moved to. Come to that, Mary was having kids from 1817 up to 1842 (Stephen is the last one). Bit of a long stretch wasnt it. Woo hoo, just seen Peter in NZ has found a birth ref. |

Give me a chance Jess, light a fag and chill! What do you reckon girl? I cant find Stephen anywhere else though I find a death for him (I think) in 1893. Last seen in 1851 with mum and dad in Stepney. |
