They keep emailing me with the offer and I haven't used them for over a year !! Doesn't make sense. Why send the message to me and yet not let a new customer take up their offer......... |

Probably Sam,. as one who has spent the last 2 days trawling 'special offers' on mobile phone tarrifs I am beginning to think its a case of they always win! In the meantime, Ive mailed familyrellies asking them if they expect the earlier period of 1837-1865 to come on line shortly and referring to 1837's offer. Lets see what they say. |

It crossed my mind to ask 1837 about this offer but I assumed it would be a definite NO! They are all in this business to make money, I would gladly take up the offer of 3yrs for £125 but they know they will make more than that from the likes of me during the next 3 yrs, the ones that are being offered that opportunity are not likely to benefit, in my opinion Sam |

Dea, I cant understand it either. If I go to 1837 I seem to waste all the units most of the time. If a date comes up between 1866-1920 I glow inside knowing I will find it easily! Perhaps Ive only got a little brain! |

I had another look at this offer. If I'm reading right they only offer BMD, all other pages for extra info still incur another fee! |

Isn't it strange Heather ? - I can work 1837 but can't for the life of me get my 'clicker finger' around 'family relatives' site, yet you are totally the other way around ! Dea x |

Zoe, Have you clicked on 'buy units' ? I bought some the other day and although I hadn't received the offer, when I clicked to buy, the offer was listed there with all the different prices. - I decided it would be a false economy + went for the 500 for £25 as I bought £60 worth last time and still have some left. Anyway, have a look. Dea |

cheers all I'll give family relatives a go once I've used up the lats few credits on 1837online. The 1861 thing doesnt really bother me as I have an ancestry subscription already and you can still search for possibles using 1837's extra criteria (job etc) without having to pay for units. they're a bunch of old scrooges thats what I think |

The last time they started making unusual offers was when familyrelatives.org was about to start up. This makes me wonder if the 1837-1865 period on familyrellies is about to become searchable like the fantastic 1866-1920 period already is. Oh I do hope so, cos I blowed if I can search 1837 properly. |

I have been offered the 3 year offer and cannot make my mind up. It seems on the surface a good deal but... will the site still exist in 3 years and if they are making this offer you have to wonder why. For instance when will the Free BMD project be completed? The info for 1984 onwards is available in Ancestry etc etc however apparently I have spent £90.00 already so perhaps I will make my money back? |

There must be a reason for this offer (the three year one). Most likely they know other sites are going to be offering bigger and better things, so they want to tie down a few of their customers to stop them changing to another site. (don't understand why they didn't want to tie you in though????? Maybe you should be grateful? LOL) Merry |

Use Family Relatives instead!!!!! From 1866-1920 they are better and cheaper than 1837online, and for the other years are just the same as 1837. The only downside is lack of 1861 census, and no Overseas BMD's. In every other way I think the site is better. They even automatically save everything you do, so you can go back and look again without the hassle of remembering to save the page. and BAH HUMBUG to 1837!! Merry |

I emailed 1837online yesterday asking about their three year offer and whether I could get the same deal as I'd be more likely to use them more whereas now I hav eto limit the amount I can use them to a set level - I hadn't received ANY offers on email like others - and I got this reply: 'The offer is currently only open to a limited selection of our customers and, as such we are unable to offer it to you.' So, thats made my mind up to stop using them altogether. You'd think soneone who is saying 'yes, me please - I'd like to give you £125 right now ' would be considered a wanted customer, but apparently not. So, who else does a good service for searching the GRO online ? Zoe |
