Naomi, Perhaps if you add a few more details about what you do know, some kind person on here may be able to help you. Have you found her in ANY census, where was she and who with? How do you know she was born at Camphouse? This sort of information may just help someone to help you. Jay

Here she is in 1871: James Gill abt 1871 Garmondsway Moor, Durham, England Son Garmondsway Moor Durham Sarah M Gill abt 1850 Sedgefield, Durham, England Wife Garmondsway Moor Durham William Gill abt 1841 Hudswell, Yorkshire, England Head Garmondsway Moor Durham Mary J Tarren abt 1867 Camphouse, Durham, England Sister-in-law Garmondsway Moor Durham Don't forget, birth registration wasn't compulsory in the 1860's so maybe she wasn't registered? Her sister seems to have been... Name: TARREN, Sarah Mary Record Type: Births Quarter: June Year: 1849 District: Stockton County: Co. Durham North Riding of Yorkshire Volume: 24 Page: 315 and the marriage: Name: TARREN, Sarah Mary Record Type: Marriages Quarter: June Year: 1870 District: Stockton County: Co. Durham North Riding of Yorkshire Volume: 10a Page: 215 **Gills, William HEDLEY, George Burnip so you'd expect the others to have been. But aren't there some gaps in the 1860s? Christine

TARREN really isn't a common name. Could she have been mistranscribed somewhere along the line? Christine

I did wonder if she is actually Sarah's DAUGHTER???? Have you got her/them all in 1881?? I have a lot of rellies who change generations over the years....begin as daughter or son and miraculously change to granddaughter or grandson to the same people by the next census!! Do you know who Sarah's parents were? Merry

Here is Sarah with her parents in 1851. Her mum is young enough to have a baby in 1867 (just!), so maybe mary Jane is Sarah's sister after all...... Well done, Merry! The value of looking at the image and not relying on the transcription: 1891 Mary J is a daughter-in-law, not a daughter. Christine
