Yes Alison, The Wing One Place Study is probably the same site as the one you refer to. How to Zoom in on any place in the UK & Ireland could possibly be of interest to other readers so I will show the route to the Wing one place study, then readers can follow their route to other destinations. Enter via Genuki, www.genuki.org.uk/ Then click England, Click Buckinghamshire, Click Towns & Parishes, Click W, Click Wing Then find all Wing data including One Place Study. To my mind Genuki is one of the best sites for Family Historians, and I use it as my 'Home Page' Merry Christmas to all, and good hunting! Ray Whincup

thanks all for your interest. There is one very good website for anyone interested in searching for Wing data: http://www.wing-ops(.)org(.)uk/ Alex who runs it is a blooming marvel! She has an awful lot of data that has led me to make new additions to my tree. ialso have the bucks census data from the Bucks Gen Soc for 1851, 61, 81, 91 and Alex has recorded Wing for 1841. i think that this site is good for making links that take you forward from a given person to the present day and that is what i want to do. if i could search by place and find people with Wing connections then i could ask them how they link into the village and then see if they can help me take branches of my tree into the 21st century. i have emailed GC about this function in the past but to no avail - perhaps i should try again now that it has a new owner?!! Best wishes Alison Ray - was that the site yu refered to in your off-list email? A

Hi All I don't think you can search for everyone in a particular place but its possible to search for specific names and mis-spellings of places. Go to 'my tree matches' Change names added in last .... days to 'all names' This diplays the numer of people on Genes with each surname in your tree. Click on the large numer of people, then esch plabe and their various spellings. Hope this makes sense and sorry if you already knew this. Merry Christmas to all, Jo

Do you mean you want to search all of the 78 original pages of WING in Buckinghamshire for 1851 Census? If so that is easy on the Ancestry Census site. From 1851 search screen scroll to Buckinghamshire and Click to produce Place names, then select Wing and click. This then tells you Wing has ED 2a and 2b. Click 2a and you go to page 1 of 41. (2b has 37 pages) Also on first screen you can click for description of enumeration district. You would be able to search all 78 pages in less than 2 hours. But I am not convinced that this was the question you were asking. Merry Christmas. Ray Whincup

are you meaning census search or this site search?

I think it works if you first search just the 1881 census, and then expand it to all censuses. I just tried that on Ancestry Jim

i did mean all the people with a link to the village of Wing. I don't think it needs to be too specific either because when i search for a given surname in Wing i also get that surname for places ling WINGfield and NeWINGton. To the person who did get the list - wow lucky error on the system that day! Alison

Yes you can do it. I accidentally left out the persons name once, put in the village and the whole caboodle came up.

Don't know of a way Alison, but it would only work for you if everyone was as specific as you in entering 'Wing' as the birthplace, rather than Bucks or even Wing, Bucks - it would only pick up 'Wing' exactly, so it's probably not as much use as it sounds initially. Just a thought Looby

Hi there Does anyone else wish that there was a seach by place option on this webite? i know that may well be rather an overload for large towns but from my grandparents back to 1751 (so far) everyone came from the same village in Buckinghamshire and i have at least 30-40 surnames now linked to mine by marriage. if i could just go to a page that had all Wing residents then my life would be so much easier! Any thoughts? Alison
