And if the records Christine found are the right ones (maybe you know roughly if he died in 1985??) then this would be him on the 1901 census with his family: Waterfield abt 1898 Bermondsey, London, England Daughter Bermondsey London >>>>Albert Waterfield abt 1899 Bermondsey, London, England Son Bermondsey London Edith Waterfield abt 1895 Bermondsey, London, England Daughter Bermondsey London Edward Waterfield abt 1872 Walworth, London, England Head Bermondsey London Edward Waterfield abt 1894 Spitalfields, London, England Son Bermondsey London Maria Waterfield abt 1871 Spitalfields, London, England Wife Bermondsey London His father, Edward, was an Engine Fitter. The daughter b 1898, above, was actually 2 weeks old on the census, not two years.....this is probably why she didn't have a first name yet! Merry |

This looks a possible family, in 1901, for the Albert I found above: Source information: RG13/391 Registration district: St Olave Southwark Sub-registration district: Bermondsey ED, institution, or vessel: 24 Folio: 12 Page: 16 Household schedule number: 108 Maria Waterfield abt 1871 Spitalfields, London, England Wife Edward Waterfield abt 1872 Walworth, London, England Head , engineer fitter Edward Waterfield abt 1894 Spitalfields, London, England Son Edith Waterfield abt 1895 Bermondsey, London, England Daughter Bermondsey London Albert Waterfield abt 1899 Bermondsey, London, England Son Bermondsey London baby Waterfield 1901 Bermondsey, London, England Daughter Bermondsey London (2 weeks old) Without something more specific, it would be hard to be certain that this lot is yours - even if it looks plausible. Christine Merry got there first! |

Well then I guess the collection we found isn't your direct lot. However, it's probably worth storing on one side. They're the right (uncommon) name and from the right general area. the name-overlap just makes it even more likely that there is a ocnnection somewhere - cousins or something. Christine PS - thank you for your kind words, Merry! |

To buy the marriage cert you need this info: Waterfield Albert G Knight Shoreditch.1c 93 Marriage 4 1912 That's the grooms name bride's surname District where the marriage took place (Shoreditch) Volume Number 1c Page number 93 and the year and quarter the event occurred: 1912 Q4 Using this info and you credit or debit card (or better still the credit or debit card of someone else who would like to buy this for you!)...go to this site: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/index.asp#0 and order the marriage cert. For a standard service cert (ie NOT a priority one) never pay more than £7. If it looks as if you are being billed for more, then you have clicked the wrong box somewhere. There is a bit that asks you if you know the GRO index info.....that is the numbers above (1c and 93) so say ''Yes'' to that question!! Good Luck Merry |

They charge more for phone requests and more if you don't have those reference numbers. You could order from a local reg office if the marriage had been somewhere rural (probably) but I very much doubt a London Reg office would provide that service (most London offices don't do Family History certs). If you don't have a credit card, find someone who does who you trust and give them the cash........LOL Merry |
