Linda Don't know if this helps; these are all the Louisa Partridge births between 1877 and 1879 in London. There is no birth record for Gustave anywhere. I think the enumerator mis-heard. Partridge Louisa Alice Shoreditch.1c 58 Birth 4 1878 Partridge Louisa Amelia E St Olave.1d 239 Birth 1 1878 Partridge Louisa St Saviour Southwark.1d 14 Birth 2 1878 Suzy

did she use a second name on her marriage cert?

Morning Jess Found Gustave in 1881. Her mother Mary Sophia had no other children after Gustave so I'm presuming Gustave changed her name to Louisa because she did not like it - don't blame her if she did. Have not found the birth in BMD Linda

I have a girl in my tree named Otto Rose, she was always called Rose, her fathers name was Otto, he didn't marry the mother, and went away, so I wondered if she was named Otto so that if he ever came back he would know that she was his daughter!!!!! just a guess.

I have found a daughter of an Edward Partridge her name being Gustave Partridge b 1878 in Surrey but by the time she married 1899 she had changed it to Louisa - did she not like the name or are the names related. If she was given the name Gustave would she not have to have this name on the marriage cert. Linda
