You can't get a cert before 1837, you would have to find the church records. if you are nearby you could contact the churches or find out where their records are kept. Some parishes have their records on-line so it might be worth trying that. Gloria

I've gone back as far as I can on one line, because I've got stuck at the father. My 3xGGrandfather was born in 1835. His father, John Butterfield, died in 1839. I can't find a marriage and I have no idea when John might have been born. The first child I can find, Sarah, was born in 1824 in Ossett, Yorkshire, and the mother, Ann, was born in 1808. How do I find someone when I don't know when or where they were born?
