Hi Linda If you get no joy with the staff at Cardiff Library I would be able to go in on Monday and have a look through the local paper at the time for you. I was in the library last week, looking for any mention of my Gr Gr Grandfathers death, which was also as a result of an accident at The Dowlais works in Cardiff. This was in 1904 and I managed to find a report of the accident in The South Wales Echo. It cost me 50p to copy the page. Let me know if you'd like me to go for you. Jackie x

Linda I was looking for an inquest report for my gt aunt who was 2 when she was killed. I had the death cert so knew dates. Sent email to local studies centre in nottingham and they searched and emailed it back to me free of charge. Not nice reading but at least dad had some details of the story he had heard about. good luck

Hi Helen, Thanks, I will give the Cardiff library a ring tomorrow morning to see if they can find anything.

I am sure that there would have been a local newspaper report on the inquest. It will probably be in the county records office/local history centre/central library for the relevant area. As you have exact dates you may find that they will be able to locate the item quickly and photocopy it for you for a small sum. I've found libraries particularly helpful - one of them answered my e-mail promptly and sent the information with a bill, I didn't have to pay upfront (records offices tend to like to see your money first!) nell

This accident happend on the 26/11/1902 in the Dowlaw Iron Works, in Cardiff. A gentlman was found in a Hot Water Pond, it was not known how he got there. An inquest was held on the 29/11/1902 and the death was officially registered on the 1/12/1902. I would like to know if it would be possable to find any Records of this, eg; Newspaper or Coroners reports. Any suggestions very welcome. Kind regards, Linda.
