I have a member of my tree born in Pimlico according to the 1891 and 1901 census but Pimlico is not to be found to be the given place of birth on the 1881 census. She must be there but how do I know which one she is when there are 3 others of the same name/year of birth, born in London. I am toying with a Bethnal Green entry -could this be her? Unfortunately she was on her own on the 1891 census so I have no idea who her parents/siblings were. Any ideas? Jackie |

In case this helps, from Wikipedia: Pimlico is a district in London, England and part of the City of Westminster. The area is roughly delimited by Victoria Station to the north and the River Thames to the south, spanned by Vauxhall Bridge, which allows ready access to Vauxhall. The entire district was formerly owned by the property owning Grosvenor family. The large majority of the buildings in Pimlico are residental and were designed by the architect/builder Thomas Cubitt. I don't have a map at hand but I would think Marylebone would be the registration district for Pimlico, or perhaps Westminster. Bethnal Green seems the wrong end of London. As she was on her own at the time of the census at least she is likely to have spoken to the enumerator herself and given the correct answer. |

Pimlico comes under Westminster. My father died there in 1961. CB >|< |

Oh dear. There are no Westminster registered births for her name. The nearest is Shoreditch. There is a Marylebone reg. but the middle name shows ir is not her -also found elsewhere on other census's. Grrrr! Thanks everyone for your help. |

I looked on the 1881 census for all babies who said they were born in Pimlico........(well, their parents said that!! LOL) Nearly all of them were living in the parish of St George, Hanover Square.........Which has it's own reg district...... Do you have any matches for there? Merry |
