I right clicked as Judy said and did send and click on 31/2 inch floppy, But I then got the message The File has extra information attached to it that might be lost if you continue. The contents of the file will not be affected. Information that might be lost includes and in the box it had Document Summary Information what should I have done I left it for now.

Val...funny, just recently I've gotten this message on a few things I saved.....just click OK to allow the transfer.....my transfers all turned out fine.....worse case scenareo - the only thing that could happen is the floppy won't complete the transfer - your original file will be fine. Judy (Sorry for the delay in responding.....I was getting dinner for the gang!)

Mornin' All, Go on Val - be brave - Click it through !! Scarey isn't it? I always worry when I do anything like this, but one you have done it once, it's always really easy after that. Good luck, Dea x

Hello!! Hubby says, should you do some CD burning, it's really important not to leave your CD lying about on your desk afterwards (whilst you go for a quick lie down or a brandy because of the stress)......These writeable or re-rewriteable CD's are prone to damage from sunlight.....not in a few minutes, but keep it in the storage box and in a drawer! The data written to them doesn't last for ever either......important to consider that, esp with things like photos that you might not look at very often. Hubby says they can wear out (ie loose the data on them) after as little as two years.........sounds as if we need backups of backups! Merry

Blimey, Judy said that too. We could end up surrounded by the things. Anyway, Merry, Val isnt on to burning yet, she is still being floppy. Dont confuse the issue at this point!

Merry, Thank your husband for that info. I have had my computer for 18 months, CD rewriter for 6 months. I bought PC for Dummies and honestly couldn't understand how to burn a CD. Felt too much of a numpty to ask on here. Should have known better .... this is the only place to get simple instructions for simple people like me. Judy's instructions are great and I am now going to back up all my documents on CD instead of floppy. Am going to ask Judy to write a 'PC for Proper Dummies'.... I for one would buy it. Jean x.

Hi Val I use two methods of back up on my pc 1/ burn to cd 2/ internet storage The reason i use internet storage as well is simple cd's do have a shelf life of about 2 to 5 years also they get scratched ect. So i use one of the many internet companys that offer a virtual harddrive to store all your digital stuff like photo's and documents the one i use is a uk Company www(.)storegate.()co.uk remove () I use the private basic pack which costs about £7.50 to set up then depending on how much disk space you requier a monthly fee starts at £1.49 for 50mb And its easy to use lol hope this helps Steve P
