That is possible, but why would James be listed as George's son on the census? Liz

I can't see where George and Hariett fit into this puzzle unless he was a brother of Henry Paget Norris ???? Ann

Maybe James and Emma were away on honeymoon in 1861? It is indeed a puzzle! Liz

Yes, his father was Henry Paget his mother was Charlotte and brother Henry born 1838. So i know its them on the 1851 census. And by 1871 James and Emma Norris are back in Chelsea with 4 of their children, its the 1861 census that i'm unsure of. Ann

So your 2g-grandfather is James Norris? And his father was definitely Henry? Could it have been George Henry or Henry George? Do you know his Mum's name? That may clinch it. Liz

Dizzy Lizzy 205090 Report 1 Feb 2006 12:01

1861: Emma Norris abt 1840 Windsor, Berkshire, England Son Wife Fulham Middlesex George Norris abt 1802 Chelsea, Middlesex, England Head Fulham Middlesex Harriet Norris abt 1804 Hampshire, England Wife Fulham Middlesex James Norris abt 1841 Chelsea, Middlesex, England Son Fulham Middlesex Emma Welles abt 1842 Chelsea, Middlesex, England Wife Fulham Middlesex James J Welles abt 1838 Pimlico, Middlesex, England Head Fulham Middlesex On the image, James and Emma Welles are listed first as Head/Wife. Then George and Harriet Norris, also as Head/Wife. Under them are James and Emma Norris as Son and Son's Wife. To me, this imples James Norris is George and Harriets's son. Does this help? Liz

My g/g/grandfather born 1841Chelsea married 2/12/1860 to Emma Ewer Windsor. Died 8/2/1877 of Thyphoid. Have found him on 1851 and 1871 census. And have found this on 1861 census,i'm i assuming to much to think this is them? At 5 Grove(r) Road Fulham but he is recorded as son? Emma is recorded as wife/son? Folio 104 page 56 if you want to look. But i know that his father s name was Henry. Ann
