WELL!! you wont get it from the Uk. I have a german grandparent & grt grandparent & I understand that german Family Books ,as they are known , are sometimes still available but you need a german speaking researcher to find these for you. Lots were lost however in the bombing in WW2. If you know where in germany they came from its worth trying to google for that place & try to find the local priest who sometimes will help you. depends tho if he can speak English. Its a slog tho I,m told. Shirley |

Kerry mine are on the 1891 & 1901 as born Germany British subjects,BUT I looked at Kew for their naturlisation & they did.nt take it. Was told that often what happend was the enumerator would say 'are you entitled to be here?& they would say 'yes' so they would be put down as British Subjects. They didnt do the cheaper option either of deninization. So am lost too as dont know where in Germany they came from. Shirley |

Suggest that you contact BBC 'Who do you think you are' Last night Julian Clary seemed to have no difficulty in being given access to registers in Germany that had his g.gr.parents etc. He also seemed to get certs. from CRO a lot quicker than most people on this site. A case of not 'what you know', but 'who you know' I guess. hardened Cynic |

I asked the same question about a year ago and was informed that unless you are a direct relative of the individual you could not obtain information on them, ie birth/marriage certs etc - as the german law is more stricter than ours - let me know if you succeed as would be interested to know Kind regards Sue |
