Can I just say that browsing on the internet also eats into your allocation, it is not just downloading files which counts. If anyone is worried about breaching their limit, and some ISP will actually stop you for the rest of the month if you do, there is a useful little add-in called Down 2 Home which monitors your trafic. You can down load it for free. Just Google down2home |

Still not sinking in - God I bet you think I'm Thick 1 Kilobyte = megabyte 1000 1000 Megabyte = 1 Gigabyte ? Yes I know this is not right, but this is what I'm getting from your message - it's all foreign to me The reason I am asking is that I want to down load something which is 3245 Kb and I want to know how much this will leave on the Gb subscribtion. |

1024 is the correct value but the numbers are usually rounded to the nearest thousand. Janice |

That's OK! 1kb is a kilobyte - 1000 bytes. The beginning bits - kilo, mega, etc always mean the same thing wherever you meet them. kilo always means 1000. eg 1kg is 1000g, 1kilometre is 1000 metres etc. Janice |
