Why can't I find her on 1881?

I'm looking for my 3xgreat grandmother on the 1881 census. I received her certificate today. Her name was Mary Kate Evans, and she was born in Luton on 13th October 1863, daughter of Henry (or Harry) Evans, groom, and Elizabeth Benbow. I've had a look on 1881 census but I can't seem to find her. Can anyone help? Thank you, Lucia :-)

just for reference - have you found her on the 1871 - if so can you give the details please

could this be her on 1871 - going under the name of Kate ? Elizabeth Evans abt 1838 Ampthill, Bedfordshire, England Head Luton Bedfordshire Kate Evans abt 1864 Luton, Bedfordshire, England Daughter Luton Bedfordshire this gives Elizabeth as unmarried ! - so maybe not the right one ---- but may be it is the right one as this would tie in with the details of an Elizabeth Benbow on the 1861 Elizabeth Benbow abt 1839 Ampthill, Bedfordshire, England Granddaughter Luton Bedfordshire

Elaine, Thanks! That looks like her. I'll have to check for an Elizabeth Benbow born 1838, Ampthill. I wonder why I can't find her on 1881 though. :-) Lucia

have just amended my original message - Eliz Benbow is on 1861 census and place of birth and date match

Could she have been married and living with her husband? Looks like that would be a No. Name: Evans, Mary Kate Record Type: Marriages Quarter: March Year: 1883 District: Luton County: Bedfordshire Hertfordshire Volume: 3b Page: 607

this might be Henry on the 1861 - he is a groom living in stables! Henry Evans abt 1839 Mock West, Suffolk, England Head Luton Bedfordshire

a possibility in 1881 - still under the name of Kate Kate Evans abt 1866 Toddington, Bedfordshire, England Servant Hanworth, Hanworth, Middlesex, England Toddington about 8 miles from Luton
