Don't know if this is any help, but part of Winchester reg district became Eastleigh about 1932 or thereabouts.

Ancestry will only have a record of what was FACT as told to the registrar. if who ever reported/registered the death said he was 22 , that is what was recorded. That is why i was wondering who did so, if it was his mum, then you'd assume t to be right, if someone else, who know??

only one i could find was John Merriman Northwich oct1/4 1910 8a 217 if that is him he has got a twin Frank Jeanette

Ian Are you sure he was born in Winchester? There's a William John J. Merriman born Sept 1909 St. Pancras Grtr London 1b/23 on Ancestry BMD

dont know much about death says on ancestry he was 22, im trying to dig death cert out now again from under the mass ..

Checked 1911-1913 for Merriman and Merryman............do you know his mothers maiden name or any other siblings that we could find to get the maidenname?

i am def about his death in 1934 and it states he is 22 years old so it has to be around 1912..doesnt it. thinks it maybe john james merriman

have looked a year each way on the full bmd on ancestry, found the death but still no birth?? thanks for the vote of confidence that im not thick...lol

Depends where you looked. Ancestry has a civil reg index Freebmd which stops at about 1910 and is not complete, BUT it also has the GRO birth index images, which is more complete. nell

How sure are you of the facts? How far either side of the year have you looked ? Sure you are not thick, by the way!!

Hi have been trying to find a birth certificate but cant find it ,can anyone help..name is John J Merriman , area of winchester i know he died November 10th 1934 at The Royal Victoria Hospital Netley at the age of 22. have looked on ancestery and couldnt see the birth any where,,,am i thick??
