I seem to have come to a complete dead end on 2 of my family. One is a Thomas Brown (oh to have an unusual family name). He was from Norfolk (a servant) and his son was born in Newton Flotman in 1838. The other one is a Charles Mason (seems to have appeared in a puff of smoke) born in Stafford in 1839. I have tried all the censuses but can not find them, only Charles in the 1881. I'm a beginner and would be very pleased to have some help. I still cannot get passed 1871 for Charles Mason and Thomas is still a dead end. Thank you!!!!

Yes that is his son. I have looked him up in as many censuses as I can. Still no luck!!!

And Charles Mason seems to have just appered in the 1881 census in Alfred Place (should be Alpha Place). Before that nouthing!!!! His daughter is Louisa (but called both Louise and Amelia in different censuses). Son's George, Edwin and Victor. I have tried looking up all of them. Very little luck. I have them in the 1881 and in the 1891. But before that nouthing, and no marrige cert anywhere.

No 1841 census as I cannot get into that one. Thankyou so much for answering....

Anne Dont think of typing in different surnames,fill in forename, year +/-5, and county or district, it takes lots of ways/combinations to search, leave the surname blank and see what names come up, sometimes its very near to the one your need other times looks nothing like it, thats when it can become tedious.
