OK all you who say knowingly 'so what'! It's a big deal for me I don't mind telling you. Got it from a site called WebmasterNow*com but can't now remember where I got that site from. But it doesn't matter - I feel I've achieved something, however small. Great feeling isn't it?

Hi, I know its not everyones cup of tea - but there are lots of courses for learning the basics of word processing - usually freebies or very cheap with your local authority. Theres one here in town that runs every day and you just walk in and sign up. I whip in then to get them to scan stuff for me as I havent got a scanner. Im sure it would be fun just learning the basics and they do family history stuff too!

My 8-year-old son showed me how to cut and paste. And I blush to admit that I used to scroll down long lists of names on familysearch till my husband told me I could do Control + F for find and then put in the word I was looking for!!!!!!!!! nell

Try the site www.Tektra.com and see if they have a centre near you -in most of their centres you can enrol for free or a minimal charge and you can learn to do almost any programme from the office package ie word processing, spreadsheets, database,Desk Top Publishing, Powerpoint, Internet, E Mail-who knows you could end up a whiz kid. I think you have to attend for four hours a week ( 2 sessions of 2 hours) at any time over a 64 hour period. Give it a go- I did and ended up with certificates or certified as my hubby says!!!!! Thanks Helen - must try that control+F!! No Annette there's no Tektra near here but I wouldn't be able to commit to the time anyway. Thank you all for your replies. It's good to know I'm not the only one who doesn't know such simple things and SUCH ENCOURAGEMENT!! Thanks a lot all. Jill
