Toni You can go to the register office where you will be given a form to fill in then the cert will be sent to you or you can call in and collect it. It usually takes 2 or 3 days. Heather |

Its not like Who Do You think You are! At the moment the GRO is taking nearly 3 weeks to send you a certificate. The local office, you could try ringing first, hopefully they will be a lot quicker. |

And if they are London offices most redirect you to the GRO anyway! |

Advantages of local office: You don't need the GRO reference You may avoid the current delays at the GRO If you don't have a credit or debit card this will be the cheapest way Disadvantages: Some local offices will not issue certs for family history research Even if they do, some will not issue marriage certs unless you know which church You may have to write letters and go to the postbox!! Well, as Sam said, if you want you can either contact the office local to the event and give them the dates for a certificate or you can get their GRO reference numbers and order them all on line for £7 each. |

You can apply to the register office in the district it took place. Or if you have the GRO reference numbers, you can apply to the GRO in Southport. Sam x |

Depends on what info you already have and if the local office is local to the event? Tell us what you already have. |
