Hi I have a just got through a death certificate and i was wondering if anyone could assist me? Under the section name and surname it has Phyllis May Pocock formerly known as Phyllis May Jenkins. Then in the section maiden name of woman who has married it has Lunn. Does this mean that the person married for a second time, or does it mean that she just took the name Pocock? or could it mean either? Thanks keiley |

I'm not an expert, but I'd interpret that as Phyllis May Lunn, married firstly to Mr Jenkins and then to Mr Pocock. nell |

I have no idea when and where the marriage was. The main reason i am asking all this is because I cannot find a marriage between phyllis and mr pocock. Therefore if Phyllis never married Mr Pocock but was called Mrs Pocock does the formerly known as part indicate that she never married him but was known as that name. If you understand what I mean. |

The formerly - as I understand it from your original message - referred to the Jenkins surname. Have you looked for a Jenkins-Pocock marriage, or just a Lunn- Pocock marriage, or even a Lunn-Jenkins marriage? nell |

She was Lunn, married a Jenkins and then married and died as Pocock. As to whether she really was a Pocock....The information recorded would only be as good as the info given by the informant....But they seem to have 'known' her preety well :) Chris |

No i looked for the Pocock marriage. I know the husbands first name was Marcus, which is fairly unusual for the time. However i found nothing, unfortunately. |

If they never got married........then do you think she would go to the lengths of deed poll? |
