Hi All Ok what gives here i am tring to get the cert for my maternal gran so i can find out who her mother was. This is the problem 1/ on her confermation cert from the church it gives the name Olive Graham but where it says baptised thats blank (granfather is filled in with the date) they were both born in this parish 2/ on there marrage cert it gives the name Olive Graham age 24 married 1931 so that gives a birth 1907 3/ searching Durham RO births berween 1901 and 1911 only one hit Francis olive Graham??? How did she loose a christian name, can you loose a christian name? and i still cant get onto ancestory coz my user name and password still dont excist. Anyone any ideas untill Ancestory let me back in Thanks Steve |

Hi Steve I don't think there is any rule that says that a child has to be baptised with the names stated on the birth certificate. I have the same situation with my husband's grandmother. Always believed to be Tryphena May Taylor, but on her birth certificate it says Tryphena Darby Taylor. Yet she is May on all the census records. I don't actually have the baptism certificate, but my guess is her parents changed their minds between registration and baptism. Looks like you have a similar situation. Tina |

Steven - if she was born in the second half of 1906 and she got married in the first half of 1931 she WOULD have been 24 when she got married! So that birth reg. that Georgina found is very likely to be the right one! Kate. |
