Debs..hope you dont mind but I cut paste your request so that its on here also. The best place for census lookup requests is on the records office baord: DOVENOR I f anyone has any free time and wouldn't mind having a look for anything to do with Thomas Wiliam Dovernor I would appreciate it very much. He was born in 1891 to John Thomas Dovenor and Mary Ellen Wallis from Leeds. Mary Ellen was originally from Bridlington. They appeared on the 1891 census as Danner when you look it ,it is bad handwriting and is Dovener. Thomas William was 3 mnths old on it. I've been looking for ages but there might be someone who can find something straightaway - sometimes I think you can look too hard!! I would be extremely grateful for any info. 1891 for reference: John Thomas Danner abt 1867 Leeds, Yorkshire, England Head Leeds Yorkshire Mary Ellen Danner abt 1867 Bridlington, Yorkshire, England Wife Leeds Yorkshire Thomas William Danner abt 1891 Leeds, Yorkshire, England Son Leeds Yorkshire Many thanks Deb |

Thanks Suzanne, I'm just having problems with the family altogether! I know Mary Ellen Wallis had further children - 1 being my gran May Pitts, father William Pitts, but I can't find a marriage certif for that although it says Mary Ellen Pitts Formerly Wallis on the birth certif, so I just want to know what happened to the Doverners as I can't find any info on them after the 1891 census! Any help much appreciated Thanks Deb |

By the way I know Mary Elllen was born in1870 as I have the birth certif but on her marriage certif it says she was21 and a spinster in 1889 now why might she have done that?? These complications are sent to try us I think! Deb |

Did the Pitts come after the Dovenor's? If this is the case then it should (by rights) have said - Mary Ellen Dovenor/late or formerly Wallis on the birth cert of your Pitts? Where and When was May Pitts born? Suzane |

Yes the Pitts came after and it does say Pitts formerly Wallis but no mention of the Dovenors - did they have UFO's at that time???Because I'm sure they disappeared!! Like I said I can't find a marriage cert for the Pitts either my brother thinks she might have just called herself Pitts after a visit to the pub!! Deb |

Did Mary marry William Pitts after the 1901 census? I take it that on Mary's marriage cert to William Pitts it says formerly Dovenor? Is that why your chasing Dovenors? lol...sorry just trying to understand the family. Suzanne |

No I don't have a marriage cert for William Pitts and Mary Ellen Wallis, can't find one, although on May Pitts birth certif it states them as parents but says Mary Ellen Pitts formerly Wallis. So where have the Doveners gone?? Did they have patios then?? lol That's what's bugging me. Deb |

Well your right I cant find that family on 1901 either! I too cant find the marriage between William Pitts and Wallis. I did find the following two births which may or may not be connected? No Surname Forename1 Forename2 Forename3 Mothers maiden name District Page No Event Quarter Year 1 Pitts Hora (Wallis) Leeds.9b 606 Birth 2 1914 2 Pitts Sylvia M R (Wallis) Devonport.5b 552 Birth 3 1920 (father Walter) What I dont get is where you made the connection to the Dovenor's in the first place? If Hora above is the child of william and Mary and the Mary you have in mind was born 1870 then she would have been about 44 when she had Hora (quite old for child baring)???? Of course it could just be a coincidence birth and not belonging to William and Mary at all. Suzanne |

Just awaiting that certificate coming back from GRO, seem to have waited months!! I know that Mary Ellen came from Bridlington and her father was Robert Wallis fisherman When I searched for her marriage to William Pitts I found the marriage to John Dovenor, its the same Mary Ellen I'm sure as fathers details are the same. Such is life!! Thanks for your time Suzanne - much appreciated Deb |
