Do you think that a midlands accent could make the name POOLE sound like POWELL? I have 2 brothers birth certs three years apart with the same registrar. I'm hoping he was a little mutton jeff! lol I'm sure these are my boys with the correct names for parents all except for the maiden name of mother Powell! I want to see you all sitting there saying out loud.......POOLE/POWELL in your bestest birmingham accents please.....lol Many thanks Gerri x

My brummy accent isn't very good, but we've all come across mistakes on certs, just like every other kind of document. My Granny was married as McDonald instead of McDonough, I've had wrong mother's forename entered in bp registers, so sometimes you just have to go along with it, unless you can prove that the entry was in fact correct. I think it could be. One of my ancestors was called Colwood, yet on his marriage it says Colleywood - don't know how they mixed that one up. (I know it's right from chldrens birth certs.)
