Hi all, Ok I have hit abit of a stumbling block. What I have is two sets of parents for Henry Cheeseman. As per Henry's Marriage cert I have his father as Uriah Cheeseman. This I have corrilated with the census, thus Henry was born approx 1863/4. According to the census Uriah(born Mereworth, Kent) was a confectioner (1861/71 and 81), married to a Mary Cheeseman(Castle Acre, Norfolk). On the marriage certificate of Henry (1891) he is shown as a wheelwright, which correlates forward to the 1901 census. My problem is when was Henry Born? And to which set of parents? I have two birth certificates, both from Castle Acre Norfolk.: 1) 1861, Henry Cheeseman, Father Uriah Cheeseman (wheelwright), mother Mary Cheeseman, formerly Whisker 2) 1864, Male (presumed Henry) Cheeseman, Father Uriah Cheeseman(confectioner), mother Mary Cheeseman, formely Holden. Is it possible to have two almost identical families living in close proximity? Thanks Steve

How many Henry Cheesmans born in the early to mid-1860s are there in 1871? Uriah is not that usual a name, either this is the same chap, married to two different women, or two different men who probably share ancestry - cousins, perhaps. nell

Hi Stephen are you still around? I think you'll find that the second certificate you have is for a child that died. If a certificate just says male it often means the child died before he could be named and I have found this death reference which matches CHEESEMAN male Freebridge Lynn 4b 257 March 1864 So Henry was born in 1861 which matches with the census. Like others I can only find one Uriah Cheeseman. On the 1881 census he is listed as a confectioner and his son William, at the same address, is a wheelwright. Perhaps the family ran both businesses together. There are 4 other people registered on this site researching this family, presumably you are in touch with them.
