Gill Thanks for your good wishes. Good luck to you too. My husband has been made redundant 3 times now and the first couple of times he ended up with a better paid job, so its worked out well. I just hope we don't have to move as I am settled here, the boys are in a good school and I like the local community. Nell

Well done Nell, Does it cover Lancashire,?, and if so, where do I find it? Dea x OOOpps - found it. Thanks for reminding me - I had forgotten all about this - I still had £4.43 credit left from god knows when. Anyway - really good value - I will explore again tomorrow. Dea x

The credits last a long time, 6 months I think, and you only have to spend £5 at a time. Most results cost pennies to view so I reckon it's good value.

Well, as I got all the info off a marriage cert for 10p instead of £7, yes I do!!! But like any other site, whether its worth it or not depends on whether or not they have info you want and whether or not you can get the same info elsewhere for less. If you go to the site you can check the databases to see if they cover the county(ies) and periods that you want and what they have. Some counties are much better covered than others. So if you have Cambridge relatives, its got the transcripts of 1841 and 1851 censuses, plus some NBI entries and marriages. Norfolk doesn't have so much. But you can do a free search and see if they have what you want before you pay for anything. nell

Gosh. having found the name of my gt gt grandmother's father I looked to see possible siblings on 1851 census. There's a possible brother for gt gt grandmother and who is in the household as a servant? Yes, gt gt grandmother's daughter!!!!!!!!!!!! nell

Thanks Chris. I only wish that more counties had the same coverage!

So chuffed as this lady's 1st marriage was in 1833 so not much info in the marriage register, and I was a bit doubtful about her baptism, but the father's name on the 2nd marriage cert has helped confirm it. nell

but I went onto the familyhistoryonline site as I had a bit of credit left. I found my gt gt grandmother on the NBI and her 2nd husband on the NBI and then I found all the details of their marriage - witnesses, date, address, fathers' occupations, etc etc and it cost me not £7 but 10p! So if you have Cambridge relatives, or others who might be on the relevant databases, you might get the info you want cheaply and quicker than from the GRO!!!

As some of you will know I am feeling very sorry for myself at the moment. Husband has been made redundant and I can't buy any certs...
