Vera Not an expert and depends what you mean by 'all files'. You can put some info on a disc or CD or memory stick, depending on how much it can hold. I just back up my paf file to disc, husband has a separate hard drive with all the other stuff. nell |

The boys did mine for me Val. But didnt we do this before some time back on a thread. You remember you highlight your files and then click on the (in my case a box thing on the edge of my screen). Have a search for that thread. |

Husband did it in Dec. You need somewhere to load on to. He put it on our laptop. We have XP and its something like go into start then accessories then system tools However a couple of weeks ago whole thing died and when it was returned were surprised to find it is not just a matter of putting in stored info to retreive info. Everything had to be put on file by file. A load of work and quite complicated. A timely lesson of the need to back up. |

Yes, I had to do that years back when son brought home a friend from school and they came up to the office and apparently put on a disc which the other kid had downloaded from a games site. 20 minutes later and there is a call down the stairs 'Mum, the pc is acting gay'. I come up and EVERYTHING had been eaten by a virus. I had to put every program, driver, sound stuff back on - and I really didnt know what I was doing, just followed directions from a book. It was never right after that and in the end I took it to a local chap who reloaded all the programs for £20. But the programs are something different from your own stuff - programs you can always get back, your own info you cant unless you have it on cd ready to feed back onto the puter. |

To back up your own files you need to have a Programme like 'Nero Burning Rom' or 'Record Now' on your PC. This is the software that helps you 'burn' your files to disc. You need to save things like MY Documents, MY Pictures and ANYTHING you would be lost without. You can even back up your Favourites and your Outlook Express Address Book if you have one. I even back up my e-mail stationery! Small items like the Address Book and Favourites can be saved to floppy disc if you have a floppy drive. Have you checked that you aren't infected by a virus? Do you have anti virus on your PC which is updated at regular intervals? Try testing your PC here http://www(.)pcpitstop(.)com/ You might just find out what is wrong! Cheers, Horatia PS The last time my computer wouldn't let me do a restore point, it died a few months later. |

I had Nero Burning Rom on my Puter, but it had a Virus. It took me ages to get rid of it and there are still odd files left with Nero in their address. |
