I'm not sure Merry but he has always been that on census (although the transcribers have never admitted it), and he died with that name (they got it right that tim, though not his age). Dea x |

Oops, sorry Dea.....yes I saw him in the end.....I don't really know why I thought I needed to!! It's strange that his army record doesn't show on TNA's index, as there are loads of Lambs within the same date range. Do you know that Dominic was his birth name? Merry |

Merry + Heather, I have just looked on Nat. Archives site - though I have to admit I can never find my way around it - but, following your instructions I did a search and it didn't have my Dominic(k) Lamb. I did find adetails for the Battle of Trafalgar Heather but not the battle of Waterloo ??? Dea x |

Hi all, Thanks for the replies - just escaping the fumes for a minute - the site I was thinking of had 'regiments' or 'regimental' in the title. Back again soon. Dea x |

Hi Dea Perhaps he's a sort of downmarket Chelsea Pensioner! Lol. Tina PS Jeyes fluid is better (or do I mean worse?) for ants than Dettol - also boiling water does them no good at all. But personally I recommend one of those spray laquer things - spray it around the edges of the room, especially where you think they are likely to walk. They get it on their little feet and take it back to the nest, where it kills the whole lot of them. The good thing about the laquer (as opposed to the powders) is that once it is dry, it is harmless to pets (unless you kept stick insects I suppose). Once they are up on the working surface, personally I resort to physical violence - very satisfying. Do you get the impression I have an ant problem? Yep - every flippin summer. Good luck. Tina |

I can't answer your Q, but have you looked for an army record for him on the National Archives? Go to ''The Catalogue'' under ''Search the Archives''. Click ''Search the Catalogue'' and enter his name, forename then surname and type ''WO'' (for War Office) in the ''Department or Series Code'' box. Merry |

Hi, I have just found a relative - 81 year old on 1871 census - he is down as a Waterloo Pensioner. I presume that means he fought at the battle of Waterloo and now receives an army pension? I had a site recently which gave the names of those who fought at the Battle of Waterloo but I can't think straight at the moment as my kitchen has just been invaded by ants so I have to go and 'Dettol' everything to get rid of them - QUICK !! - I HATE ants ! Can anyone help please as I am dying to follow this lead? Thanks, Dea x P.S. - I may be a while before I come back on thread. Dea x |
