Jeanette

Jeanette Report 16 Apr 2006 22:52

Penny when you click on the page number it should bring up the names of the people who married, if only 1 name comes up then the other names have not been transcribed yet. Who are you looking for? Georgina.

Georgina annie was born 31/3/1881. i have her and Fred living together as man and wife in 1901. i dont know if she was married before, but she would have been very young if she was. i suppose anything is possible! Penny

Anne

Anne Report 16 Apr 2006 23:21

So its perhaps possible that she is the Annie appearing at the top of the list?? If she was married before it would be her married surname in the index. Anne

Penny

Penny Report 16 Apr 2006 23:24

Anne it is possible, my concern is that she was only 20 when she married Fred, so her 1st marriage must not have lasted too long. If i get the marriage cert will it tell me if she had been married before? penny

Anne

Anne Report 16 Apr 2006 23:39

Yes it will say widow instead of spinster and give both her married name and maiden name. Like: Jane Smith late Brown formerly Jones. I agree though, 20 does seem young to be widowed but not impossible. Anne

There was a 4 year old Annie Eliza Hallgarth, born Lincolnshire living in Wakefield in 1871 . She then appears in 1901 in Warmfield with Heath Yorkshire : Frederick Stead Head 26 Woodhouse, Yorkshire Annie Eliza Stead wife 34 Wintuton, Lincolnshire Charles Horace Stead son 3 Namauton, Yorkshire so the marriage you found isn't your Fred and Annie.
