How would i manage to get hold of the opposite of this then? info that was filled out on his enrolement? Yes it must have relavant info on it, since the booklet i have is a very interesting read! |

...Just reading through again. Does the information say that Elizabeth was his wife?.... OR Does it say Elizabeth A Bevan, -married ?or married woman? They could have different meanings. |

My dad's WW2 service record has a space for details of his children as well as his wife. Have you got Bertie's full Royal Marines service record?? If not, it might be worth trying to get it (not just for any possible info about any previous 'wife' and family - also because it might be interesting in it's own right!) Merry |

The electoral lists are held locally,- perhaps you will find copies in a main library or the Record Office nearest to the address. |

When you say you've searched the BMD records 1930-44, you don't mean FreeBMD database, do you? That's not transcribed that late yet, so you'd need to be looking at the beta-searchable (i.e. under test) images of the GRO index on Ancestry (or in a large enough library or Records Office). Christine |

As you have an address, you could look at the electoral lists for her area after 1944, but not during war years, I believe. You may find her with someone else, ( even your grandfather?) If she's there, I guess the next move would be to search the death registers to the date of the other marriage. |

no, his mother was named Rebecca, but i too was thinking along the lines of Elizabeth being a family member. But then a blank was drawn because none of his family as i know them where called Elizabeth ! |

Hiya yeah i have their marriage cert, and it just says on it that he's a bachelor. He was born 1914 in swansea. I have searched through the records, 1930-1944....nothing. i was thinking that maybe she was not his wife?? im not sure |

iam currently trying to find out info about my mum's dad, named Bertie Bevan. He married in 1950, but i have a document stating that when my he left the royal marines (1944) his next of kin was a women name Elizabeth A Bevan. It also says that she was his wife at the time. i have tryed to locate a marriage entry in the BMD but with no luck finding anything. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to go about searching for this event, since it could of yeilded a child. Also on the doc is an address of Elizabeth A Bevan, which iam not sure how to use to get the appropriate info. UPDATE. i contacted the relavant area library to see about the electoral roles, but unfortunately they have none apart from 1960 onwards. can anyone suggest any other way i can find out more? thanks in advance |
