Jethro is born in 1870, so he ought to be on the 1871 census: Births Mar 1870 Aston Jethro Pontypool 11a 126 There are no obvious Jethros, no obvious Astons in 1871. I suspect that the only thing to do is conduct a frame by frame search - and check that nothing is missing from Ancestry. Good luck!

I just looked on website and saw they were in the same registration district, perhaps that is him then. If not I don't know where else he could be! The only way I'll know for sure is to get his birth cerificate and see names of parents.

Yes I think that is their marriage. I'm trying to find out if Trevethin is near Varteg in Wales to see if it could be connected. But would they have put the birthplace differently on the two census, do you think?

Not sure about that one Margaret, his birth place says Varteg on1881 census and don't know his parents names yet. Thanks anyway.

Thanks everyone for trying to help. Not sure about William Aston b1829. That's them in 1881 and I'm pretty sure they would have been in Wales somewhere in 1871. Will keep looking!!!

Could someone please look for a family on 1871 census for me. I have been to FRC today but only had time to look at half of micro film before they closed! They are John Aston born c1850 in Varteg, Monmouthshire (Coalminer), his wife Jane born c1851 in Varteg and son Jethro born c1870 in Varteg. They would probably have been living in Varteg, Monmouth or Trealaw Ystradyfodwg. Thank you for any help you are able to give.
