hubbys grandad was born 24th feb 1900 donald archer evans his mum was may (meredith) and dad was hugh evans (marriage index i found says hugh humphrey evans) and occuaption is dramatic artiste may was the informant so perhaps he was filming or something the address was ashgrove cottage, george street, pontypool ive been trying to look on the 1901 census as to what happened to him but not knowing wales very well i dont know where the different counties are, the marriage was at bedwelty in 1899 may have to send off for their marriage cert to find out more info, which means waiting another 2-3 weeks for the info will have to keep quiet in front of mother inlaw as i wanted to find out as much info as i could then hand it over with the certificates in a folder for her |

hi jim and jane, thank you so much i knew sarah meredith (mays mum ) married again as Donald went to live with her and her hubby archer exton, donald and sarah are buried together at a church a few miles from me. nobody in the family knew anything about donalds parents but i had my suspicions(sp) when i found the marriage for a may meredith and hugh evans i did wonder if hugh had married again hubbys uncle did say his dad had once mentioned a sister i think her name began with an M that narrows it down a bit lol ive spent most the afternoon looking on the 1901 census for a hugh evans with the same occupation as on donalds birth cert im so grateful for the info you have found, i hate asking peole to look as i dont want to seem like im doing nothing, only been tracing tree since last month so im still new lol. |

Hi Karen, perhaps Hugh was a touring actor and on the road for census night? When we find out who he married the 2nd time, may find the sister!? |

jane, never thought of that, i tried to google his name without success, my mother in law said all the children got sent to different relatives when may died so i dont know how many there were and she said nobody has ever got very far tracing the family tree, i think im the only one that has got as far as finding Donalds parents. ( feeling really smug lol) |

Aaarghh!! Dont think that's Hughs' family as he's still with them in 1901 with mother as Mrs Felie Evans!! I have to go out now, but will try and look later. checked to see if he was widow and he's not...he's single and working in a timber yard! |
