As probably half of you know already (LOL) I purchased the wrong Army record for my great-uncle from TNA at Kew. I would like to give the record I have bought in error to a family member, but as neither the man himself, nor either of his parents are on this site, I don't know where to try advertising it?? Any ideas, please? Happy Hunting - Merry x |

Hi Merry How about on Roots Chat? They have a great sell/buy forum on there... maybe someone will see it. Kimberley |

Merry, Does this mean that you bought the record of the man with the gallantry award and now find that he isn't your man? Of have you inadvertently purchased the record of a mere mortal? Pete |

Pete!! Mum has uncle's Military Cross on display in her home, so it had better be his!! LOL The record I bought was for one Colin Stanley Clark (my chap's first names were Clifford Stanley) b 9th July 1895 at Dudley Staffs....son of Frederick Edwin and Sarah Ann Clark nee Hickson. There's nearly 50 sheets of info beginning with his birth cert........and I haven't got anywhere to file it (A3 LOL) Merry |

Merry, There is a very active Rootweb list covering the Black Country. You may get some luck if you post it there. http://lists.rootsweb*com/index/intl/ENG/ENG-BLACK-COUNTRY.html |

One option is to find the nearest Family History Soc to this mans address. They generally except material that people are happy to donate. At least then it is available for all to access. Another option is does the local area have a military museum or perhaps the regiment have some kind of museum or archive office. If i have anything surplus I try to donate to Family History Soc, at least you know it will not be lost in the back of a drawer or sold for profit. Only liked minded people understand how important those scraps of info are. |

Thanks all......Kimberley has kindly offered to do the Rootsweb bit for me! If that doesn't work, then I will send the papers to Dudley RO (if they will have them). Can't be fiddling with the Regiment as he seems to have changed from one to another several times! Thanks again everyone. Merry |
