I have decided after reading all your helpful comments on the FTM programme to order one, could someone please tell me that I am ordering the correct package, and that this isn't just a basic package or the upgrade CD. Details below from S & N Supplies: Family Tree Maker 2006 UK Edition Family Tree Maker 2006 UK Edition. Includes the new Charting Companion. This is the complete program on one CD. It will also upgrade any previous Family Tree Maker version. Includes a Free 14 Day Trial to Ancestry.co.uk with access to over 300 million UK records £24.95 Many thanks Vanessa

I got the 2005 version from Amazon it was under £20 including postage and it arrived within 2 days they are fantastic I also got 90 days free trial with Ancestry. If you look on Heathers thread about it I believe there are a few tips on where to buy it from . The one you mention sounds like the real thing yes.

Valerie, I looked on Amazon and I couldn't find the one you ordered, so I have ordered the one I mentioned from S & N Supplies, says it will be here in 2 days. I can't wait now to have a play around with it. Thank you again for your help. Nite Nite Vanessa x

Valerie, your reply made me chuckle;; I have had my new version since it came out this year or end last;; Poor Heather helped me loads, I knew about the web search thing so I assumed she knew;; So was surprised to see her thread, but it got me thinking tonight that I hadnt been on for few weeks with health reasons;; Now I have been on it most of the night, and the 1841 census is on there as well now;; so yes do go get your sleep or you will join us insomniacs babs

Boro Babs I did know about the web search its just I hadnt bothered to use it much. I did use it when I first got the program but if you have a common name it brings up so many entries that it became boring. I just thought Id have another go as I went through my program looking at the missing marriages, deaths etc. and luckily these were more unusual names and lots of useful stuff popped up. I still go back to the normal ancestry search for the more common names - you try entering William Dixon on websearch - I could be here til Im drawing my pension, because it will bring up every one in the whole country and there are thousands.

Apart from the SE edition which sold for just under £10 and had some of the functionality disabled, there is only one version of the FTM 2006 software, apart from the charting package which is an addon. Some companies such as TWR will sell you an 'upgrade' ar reduced cost if you have previously purchased from them, but as far as I am aware, you get the same program.
