Phoenix

Name? Date? Period? First names may be transposed. You may know someone by a nickname - Peggy = Margaret, Harry = Henry etc Ages are often out by a couple of years on marriage, death certificates, censuses etc. The place is the Registration District, which may not be somewhere you have heard of. If the parents married after the birth, the registration will be in the mother's former name.

Is this Durham? Have you tried ukbmd? I think there's another site for Durham records too but not sure if you have to pay. Heather

Hi again Heather, I've tried everything that google gave me for Durham records to no avail. I've got most other info on her including death cert but can't find birth! Dad says she was born in Washington but I don't think she was Ali x

Merry

Well if she was born in Washington, then that is Chester le Street district: Name: Mary Robinson Year of Registration: 1905 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Chester Le Street County: Co. Durham Volume: 10a Page: 573 or Name: Mary Ellen Robinson Year of Registration: 1906 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Chester Le Street County: Co. Durham Volume: 10a Page: 647 (if she was born after mid-Nov 1905 then she could easily have been reg Q1 1906, as you had/have 6 weeks to reg a birth.) Merry

There are three Robert Robinson's living in Washington in 1901. Obviously, they may all be the wrong ones, but do you have an occupation for dad? Merry

There are no birth reg's in South Shields, which would be the district for the other place you mentioned! Merry
