I have been trying to find the marriage of Charles Ott born 1818 Bermondsey parents John and Ester. Thought I may have got help on the 1841 but can not find him. I have found him on the 1851 census at 10 Manchester Building French Polisher. unmarried. he had a son Charles James born 17.3.1853 and a daughter Maria born 17.10.1854 mothers name formerly Ann Barnes. she is down as being born in Chelmsford Essex on a latter census. and is on most of other census with him. I have a researcher who could not find the marriage. I do know they may not have been married but I do need help to find Ann Barnes. Any help very much appreciated.

Where did you find his parents details if you haven't got a marriage cert. to show his father's name? Do you have the names of any siblings?

Many thanks Helen. I really would love to find him on the 1841 as Ott is an unsual name it could be spelt wrong. Thank you again for trying, I have been trying for over a year as I can not go back on Ann Barnes, had a researcher in Essex looking for her as well. I will keep on looking. Christine.

I found his fathers and mother's name, on his baptisms cert. born May 12 1818 Charles Ott son of John and Ester. Black Prince Row. Leather Dresser. That is another reason I would like his marriage certificate as a cross check. many thanks. christine.

I was wondering because most of the Otts seem to be from Newington where Charles was in 1851. IGI has a Charles born there 1818 to John and Esther, is this your Charles? Many of the Otts seem to be butchers so leather trade would fit in with that I suppose.

Yes I know his brothers and sisters. John Ott b 1801. Richard Ott b 1803. Ester Ott b 1805. William Ott 1807. Elizabeth Ott 1809 George Ott 1811. Maria Ott 1813.

Yes I am near as you can be sure he is the one on the IGI Charles Ott 1818 son of John and Ester.

Sorry, I can only come up with Charles Otto the tailor in 1841. There is an Ann Barnes in Newington in 1841 but no way of knowing if this could be the right one.
