So, what exactly is a ''Herald Chaser''?? Any ideas? Person is on the 1861 census as follows: Jno L Bush, b abt 1837, RG9/168 Folio: 31 Page: 61. Happy Hunting! - Merry x

A Chaser is an engraver.........so presumably he was an engraver on heraldry.........of Coats of Arms, etc...... Reg

Blimey, that sounds a bit grand??? Wife and step children were shoe binders......But I suppose if you were trained at the engraving and then only had to copy....... It's def a possibility! How about this one...... Two marriage certs for siblings.....on one, father is a Lamp Maker, which fits with occs of others in the family. On the other one it says ''Gin Man'', unless it says ''Gen man''...... Merry

husbandman was a term for a keeper of animals - a sort of farmer, I think!

Merry, a gin is a kind of animal trap. Maybe the gin man made them or emptied them?
