I can't find my gggfather/mother on the 1871 census, they are there in 1861 and she is widowed by 1881, I've tried putting in crowe/crow and all the childrens names but nothing, she is missing off the 1891 census but there oin 1901. Has anyone any tips for me please? Meryl

meryl - im a bit confused as to how they can have had all those children in 1860 - were they quads?

Ah, Jess, I was just going to say that! The enumerator put 'yrs' after each child's age for some reason and the transcriber must have taken it as months, which is why the transcription doesn't make any sense! I think 'baby' is actually 'Mary', though. Kate.
