hi. I ordered a marriage certificate for an ancestor and it has no father but it has got an occupation as a labourer. Have they made a mistake or was the father not known? If any one knows it would help. Thanks

Could be either I suppose! Was the mother's surname the same as the child's?

Silly me, read it as birth cert, doh.
When was the marriage? If not recent post all details on here (use box below and click on 'submit', don't send a message). If a while back it might be possible to find the person on a census.

hI The marriage was 26 december 1901 in christ church stafford . They live at 35/37 brook street .

I can't see them 1911.
Do you know when Emily was born? And who are the witnesses please?

we think it was 1880 but its only a guess. the witnesses are john hudson and lillian chell.

I assume her age is on the cert though?
