GenesR has all B M & D's up to 2006 as well - very easy to use.
Why when questions like this come up GR is completely ignored :-D :-D

maybe because most of us do not use GR records, because they used to be either not available or not easy to use ;-)


anyway, so far as I am aware, most of the records that GR currently carries are actually those that have been transcribed or copied by FMP ........ so you could say that mentioning FMP also covers GR :-D

I agree with Sylvia. From what I've heard the records on GR are not easy to use. For instance one can't go to the next or previous page on census records. Along with most of the researchers here I use Ancestry.

I do not see genes reunited being ignored; we are here in its site after all :-)

However, when I joined the site in 2004 it was about connecting with others, there were no historical records in the site. Naturally, I searched elsewhere, sometimes online, sometimes in CDs, sometimes in records offices or libraries, sometimes in the (since unfortunately closed) Family Records Centre in London, and Mormons' family history centres - on fiche or film. And as my OH and I have subscribed to, at various times, find my past and to ancestry, we have no need to search in genes reunited for historical records. And maybe other long-standing members of genes reunited have been in a similar position to myself.

I also subscribed before GR had any records, when the members relied on others to help them find information. It was all about connecting and helping, as well as building your own tree.

I've always had to rely on the internet, since I am in another country, and cannot physically visit records offices, libraries, etc in the UK

I've had a sub to ancestry since before I joined GR ...................... and have gradually found all kinds of other sites (some free, some not) as a result of a combination of help from GR members and googling.


Consequently I had no need or desire to upgrade on GR, because I already had all the information their records provide

.......... but I have spent a lot of time helping people who have tried to use GR records without success .............. and have often been able to find the information for them within minutes on other sites.


I use entries re other sites on My Favourites list a lot to help other people, or to direct them to obscure ones.
