You won't get a certificate, but should be able to find the reference for ordering one. |

Rebecca, if your great grandad was in the first world war his service record may be available on Ancestry. There are quite a few other military records there. If you give names I expect someone will be able to check if anything is available. |

walter ernest cole born 4/11/1909 and james cole not sure his date of birth but i no he died in the war and i think he was a marine or somthing to do with the sea |

The service records for WW II are not available, if they were in the Army and killed or taken prisoner, records of that can be found. |

As my mum was still alive I didn't have to pay the £30 fee. |
