thank you all for the replys you have helped a great deal. My father has been dead since 1972 but I thought he mentioned tha t his ancestors were from Scotland, but I think this is wrong. What you have put here Ann is that Edward was from Ireland. Also they were all gun makers., Until my granddad who was a lighterman. He drowned and was not found for three months stuck underneath the barge. |

re edward martin 1872 Yes I am. Alexander born 1831 , Alex 1856 alex 1881/2 my dad was born in Stepney which is where a lot of the martins came from. My dads brother was Alexander ,which the name has gone through the generation. regards christine |

Edward married an Ann unknown they had children Allick on the 1841 census then as alexander 1831 , A Thomas and a James edward . Edward was born at Tower Hamlets whitechapel. regards christine |

How would you find the parents of someone born before the 1841 census . Full stop with most sides of the family , would like to get back to 1600 if I culd. regards christine |
