No easy answer I'm afraid, Particularly with such common names. Even if you got to see the actual entry in the parish record it is unlikely to provide any clues as such records do not normally contain any information about parents, witnesses, occupations or even addresses. |

The actual entry in the parish records should have witness names which may give a clue but will probably just state whether they were from that particular parish. |

It's very difficult with such common names to try and find them in 1841 which would help. |

It may depend on the actual church records as I have some that name the witnesses. |

I have witnesses on a 1796 and an 1800 Somerset parish record. They are my nxgreat-grandfather's two marriages. The two witnesses are the same men, one being the Parish Clerk as he witnesses practically everyone and is mentioned in notes on the end cover of the book. The other witness is only ever recorded on my nxgreat-grandfathers marriages. |

If this is a second marriage and I would say when there is a huge gap in the age of the children that this is a possibility, what about this marriage of John Smith to Mary Hall September qtr 1847 Stafford Ref 17 147 - as Mary Hall came from Fazeley Staffs. This fits in with the two children aged 3 and I in 1851- jle |
