I have a lot of weird goings on in my ancestry. Very hard to format on GR so many intermarriages. I guess because NZ was just a small place then and they only socialised amongst relatives. They were probably responsible for the founding in 1908 of Mills & Boon. |

Sounds like they got away with it as it was not made illegal until approx 1927. |

Mrs Grumpy, my g.g.grandfather married his stepsister and had been living in her house as a lodger (I don't think they ever lived in the same household together with their respective step-parents) . Does that mean that the marriage was illegal? |

Their birth cert. has their original name at time of birth (the original cert, not an applied for one) but they used the name of the adoptive family during their lifetime. |

did a google and its not legal even thouh not blood related. Once legally adopted they are brother and sister so not able to marry ,If there was no legal adoption for one or either of them then yes they can marry |

If a child is adopted into a family, is it legal for that child to marry another child within that family, bearing in mind they are not actually blood relatives? |
