I have thomas rainford in 1881 with his wife mary but he is not with his wife in 1891 or 1901. Mary is living with her parents with her son John L rainford but no sign of Thomas.

I know thomas remarries in 1902 to mary lousia longford and goes on to have another family (see my 1911 look up thread)

Can you help me find Thomas Between 1881 aqnd 1902.

What makes you think the 1911 Thomas (b Bolton) is the same as the 1881 one (b Halliwell, west of Wigan)?

Thomas married Mary Louisa LONGLEY born 1875 Manchester 1902.
Is this deffinately same thomas who married mary Pendlebry,can you say what proof you have please.

Was John L Rainford really John Thomas born O/N/D 1877 Bolton 8c 395.
No sign of a John L !!

sorry for not replying i had been out n busy longer than i thought.. not actually my ancestor doing research on behalf of my boss.she is getting the marriage cert but i thought i would just do a bit of digging and see what i could turn up.
Haliwell comes under Bolton

the 1873 on the 1911 census is defo the right one

ok the 1881 census is the right family but cant seem to find thomas after that till he pops up for his marriage in 1902

I tend not to dwell on finding a person on every census. Yes, it is annoying not to find them. But if I've got the right person I don't worry too much.

So, Whitenancy, are you saying that the Thomas who deserts his wife is irrelevant now? I wonder why you latched onto him.

mad meg it was because the was the cloest match for the thomas rainford given to me on the 1911 census who was puported to be 58 so taking a logical step of an aprox dob of 1853 he seemed like the most likely candidate
