I have thomas rainford in 1881 with his wife mary but he is not with his wife in 1891 or 1901. Mary is living with her parents with her son John L rainford but no sign of Thomas. |

The 1911 actual image shows that Thomas is 38 (not 58), thus born 1873 - not the same man as the 1881 Thomas. |

sorry for not replying i had been out n busy longer than i thought.. not actually my ancestor doing research on behalf of my boss.she is getting the marriage cert but i thought i would just do a bit of digging and see what i could turn up. |

ok the 1881 census is the right family but cant seem to find thomas after that till he pops up for his marriage in 1902 |

I tend not to dwell on finding a person on every census. Yes, it is annoying not to find them. But if I've got the right person I don't worry too much. |

mad meg it was because the was the cloest match for the thomas rainford given to me on the 1911 census who was puported to be 58 so taking a logical step of an aprox dob of 1853 he seemed like the most likely candidate |
