just thought I would add I have recently had contact from some relatives who actually have our family bible, after 10-15 years of my own research its finally appeared. To say I was astounded and delighted is an understatement. |

wow thankyou everyone for yr comments, what interesting stories, i would love more than anything to find the schwanzer/swanser family bible, i think it would be of some use for researching my tree further, as my family from my fathers side is from Austria. |

My aunty cleared out my grandparents house and actually THREW AWAY the enlarged photograph (about 90x60cm) of the double wedding of my grandparents and nan's sister with some of the family who later emigrated to Canada!!! |

If the elderly parent lived with one of their children, it would probably have gone to that child - and so on. |

There is no simple answer to that question. Firstly do you know for sure that there was one? Although family bibles were quite common particularly in the 19th century not every family will have had one as not everyone could read. |
