I really desperately need help! From the 1901 census I have got Edwin as being 21 years old (b 1880ish) living in Pontypridd with his wife Rachel . The census states he was born in Pontypool. I have just got their marriage certificate this morning, on the certificate Edwins father is George Parry. I now cant find Edwin with his father on the 1891 census.
Has anyone got any ideas? It may be that I've overlooked something obvious. These Parry's have been nothing but trouble!

I wondered if you had a copy of the l9ll - I think it is the correct family, they state five children born, and one has died. Do you think George may have died before Edwin was married - my grandfather put his father's name on his marriage cert. but didn't state he had died - Liz

There is no Edwin Parry birth registered for Pontypool for that time. There is only 1892 & 1925.

There is an Edwin Rosser Parry registered 1880 in Newport Mon but I believe he's still with his parents in 1901.

Am I reading 1911 correctly that he's born in Glamorgan?

In 1901 they are at the same address as the Lewis family. Rachel is the only one born in the US. All others are from Glamorgan.

I think you should start looking there.

P.S. I realize some registration districts straddle both counties but there's no Edwin Parry at Pontypool that I can find.

Who were the witnesses and what was George's occupation?

Thank you all for your replies, and sorry for the late reply. Have been at work and was doing a sneaky bit of research while I was there!
Liz 47 - thats definitely the correct family. He may have died before they were married but its troubling me that I cant find him in the 1891 census. Unless of course he had died before then.

Ozi - thats what I thought! I have no idea why he said he was born in pontypool when he quite clearly wasnt! and yes glamorgan is most likely where he was born.
As for Rachel being born in the US, the Lewis' are an interesting lot, Rachel's mother, father, older sister and maternal grandmother went over to pennsylvania, stayed there for a couple of years -- Rachel and her brother Benjamin were born and they came back to wales.

Rose - the witnesses were George Lewis (Rachel's father) and Lilla Pearce.

Edward doesn't have ditto marks for surname so he's on Ancestry as Edward Charles.

Thank you all so much for your help and please accept my apologies for the ridiculously late reply.

I think you are all right about my Edwin being Edwin Charles T Parry. I now have his birth certificate - the T is for Theophilus (!) On the certificate no father is mentioned and his mother is Agnes parry (one of George and Mary Ann's daughters)
So when Edwin put George Parry as his father on his marriage certificate I guess he meant his grandfather.

As I and you can't find another Edwin with a George Parry as a father I'm presuming this is my Edwin.

So this is really just an update, unless anyone can prove the current theory wrong!!
