Can't find an ET either. Tried as many combinations of Turley, wildcards etc. as I can think of. No doubt somebody is better at this than me.
I have downloaded the 1911 original census - if you'd like a copy, send me your email addy. It was completed by Elizabeth, in her own handwriting and bears her signature. She has no occupation on the census.
You might just have to accept that you can't find her in 1901, but it doesn't look at all that she was previously married.

The Dowling/Turley couple were still having children in 1917. So Sarah, she isn't yours at all.
She may have been in hospital in 1901, people were often only recorded with their initials, so you might look for an ET (oh, heck!) in Liverpool.

Just to confirm madmeg has the right turley family :)
Eliz married John Hughes (they're my great grandparents) in Dec 1911, children were Catherine, Arthur, Margaret, Elizabeth and Christy.
I'm inclined to think she did not marry James Dowling, that this is a different Elizabeth, although the coincidences are there....

very well spotted! however, been caught out by this eliz before, not been able to connect up all the dots so to speak!
What I would probably need to do to see if they are one in the same is get the marriage cert, or find a death for james dowling, before 1911. The Turleys were all over Liverpool but does seem to be a big coincidence that they are also in Kirkdale!
The other thing would be the children from the Dowling marriage, as they do not appear later as far as I am aware, my nan and great aunts do not believe she was married before their father, but stranger things have come out!

Hello Can anyone help me find Elizabeth Turley on the 1901 census? Got sqaure eyes :) Born 1878-1881 in Liverpool to Arthur and Ann Duffy (both Irish).
In 1891 Eliz is in 29 Aspinall St Kirkdale Liverpool with her parents, I have her parents in 1901 in Kirkdale but Elizabeth isnt there, We were always told she was a cook so may have been in service somewhere.
Any help very much appreciated :)
