Or possibly the other way round Bryn i.e. moved out of town for the birth to avoid the gossips. Her father being a shipscleaner would suggest that they weren't too far from the sea and Norwich is much closer to the sea than Northampton. |

Yes Chris, marriage was in St Margarets Chruch Norwich on 18th July 1914 (when the name Nellie Ellen Daniels was given). Elsie May Jones was born in Northampton on 7th October 1914 (when the name Ellen Louisa Daniels was given). On both occasions Alfred William Jones occupation was stated as acrobat. Your shotgun marriage out of town theory sounds credible. Thanks Bryn |

Don't forget though Bryn that Elsie May was born in the same quarter and they were living in Northampton on her birth cert. When I found that marriage in Norwich I did say that they might have gone elsewhere to marry as it was shotgun. Was the marriage in a church by banns? If so I suppose they must have been living in Norwich though. |

Bryn, sorry to say I am at a loss here. As there are a lot of replies others might not look, so try amending your heading to "More help needed 5th May" or similar!! |

Address on the marriage cert is very hard to read but it looks like "Picto Yd Westinct St" or similar. Sorry thats the best I can do. George Geoffrey Jones is listed as a shoemaker and the bride Nellie Ellen Daniels shows the same address, with her father Harry Daniels listed as Shipelance or similar |

There are only four in Norfolk, putting this just in case as father George: |

Do you have an occupation for him Bryn? Might help a bit with such a common name. |

Can someone please check the 1911 census to find an Alfred William Jones born 1890. May be living with his father who used the name George Geoffrey Jones (though is suspect this is an assumed name). Possibly in or near Norwich as thats where AW Jones marriage took place in 1914 |
