How do I find out which is the right birth cert to send for if there are TWO Thomas Cadman listed in BMD
Thomas Cadman b Dudley Dec 1892 and Dudley Jul 1893

I know his father was Thomas Cadman but have no idea of the mother's name

Any advice please or is that the end of the road?

Jillian, you can specify father's name when you order I believe. Or take a chance!
Have you located him on census reports at all?

There are 2 possibles in the 1901 census with Thomas as father in Dudley port, tipton. It's thought he had a sister called Edie and one called Dot as well.
The marriage cert of Thomas in 1914 will only give the father's name which is Thomas!

Thanks, brummiejean, I looked at that one and didn't think it matched the sisters up, although that's not much to go on. Thomas became a foreman in a foundry

Oh dear. The 2 Thomas Cadmans on 1911 both have father Thomas! So the occupation is crucial. (Occupation of father, not Thomas born 1892). One is coal miner, the other a shingler.
Do the witnesses offer any clues?

No, I'm fighting in the dark really as I only have the siblings names from a cousin who isn't too sure of anything so I'm reluctant to take a chance.

Sisters of Thomas are Edie and Dot (cousin's informtion!)

You have no choice but to get it - with your info there is nothing to distinguish between them. Even if you send for a birth cert, as both seem to have father Thomas you will be no better off!

I'll refrain from violence right now and put the two 1911 results on here for future reference!!
