Hi Derek. Alot of interesting and informative threads have disappeared just lately. Why ?, no-one knows, so unfair. You could contact GR, but i think all you will get is an apology, i don't think the thread can be returned, unless someone made a copy of it !. |

Hi meercat..well i didn't do it.....what worries me is if some other person on GR can do it, and why they might want to do it. |

To safeguard against another such disaster, you should periodically copy and paste your thread into a file. Alternatively save the page as - and then name it something appropriate - note that page boundaries may change as people delete earlier long posts - (NB html only is OK). |

It tends to be very long threads, either in the number of pages, or the number of posts. Perhaps there is a magic number which automatically triggers a system delete?? |

Hi DET..thanks for that..which would make it distinctly unfair for someone like myself who helps loads of people on a continuing basis........I can understand some jokey chatline or quiz being deleted.still unfair.but a serious genealogical research line??????? Isn't that what GR should be encouraging???? I am livid!!!! and if i didn't have so many loyal followers i'd end my subscription to GR forthwith!! and if you are actually monitoring this MR Genesreunited.......you should be ashamed of yourselves!!! get your act together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Removals of threads because of an error in the site have had no regard for the length of the thread. |

Well I for one will sign a petition to have Derek's thread reinstated. There is no such thing as "impossible" with computers, so I am told. |

I don't think there is any limit on thread size |
