hi guys, you all helped me out a couple of months ago regarding my gt gfather walter daniel curtis and found him for me.
I cannot find what happened to his mother.

she was originally Ellen Dungey ( born cranbrrok 1837c)and married ebeneezer curtis sep 1852 cranbrook
on the 1861 cencus she is listed as housekeeper to james munday.on 1871 census she is listed as spouse to james monday in newington kent and then i cannot find her anymore.Any tips on where to look.I have tried deaths but to be quite honest i dont know if she really became a munday officially .and her children are later found in the milton union workhouse in 1881. any help would be greatly appreciated

no im afraid i dont know her fathers name as i havnt gone that far back yet, its just i cant find her after 1871 and want to know why her kids are all in the workhouse

I don't know if this helps, but an Ellen Curtis married in Milton 1873. If you're not sure if she became a Monday, could this be her?

thanks guys, she cant have just vanished into thin air between 1871 and 1881 and i have searched the deaths to no avail

i cant find a death for james munday either so why have all these kids ended up in the workhouse and theyve all reverted back to curtis even though their munday on their birth cert ?

Maybe she and James never married? He could have abandoned her I suppose. Strange that they have reverted to her name though, if registered as Munday.

Have you followed up all the 'workhouse children' to see what happens to them, and whether a 'grandmother' later turns up staying with them?

If this is James in 1881, he claims to be unmarried, so - she dies, he abandons the children?

As usual, I am not quite with it.

Your g grandfather was Walter Daniel Curtis, his mother was Ellen Dungey and father presumably Ebeneezer Curtis. Is that right?

So what happened to Walter Daniel and Ebeneezer? Did Ebeneezer die and Ellen "remarried" James Munday?
